The ctrl-click on thumbnail should make a selection no matter what tool is active. Wrote on a new layer, ctrl-click on thumbnail in layer palette, then turned off the layer and zoomed in to show the selection better. I recorded this on my ipad but pc is same. Seems like this would be useful to do and easy programmatically, so I am hoping it exists, but I can't figure it out looking through the docs. I need to actually select the colored parts of a layer, not the layer itself. What I would like to be able to do is to just wrap-select everything on the current layer, and nothing outside of it. This works fine, but it is really tedious to do. I'm trying to put a border on some text I've drawn (so just plain ink on a canvas, not a text object), and to do this I've been going along with the magic wand and clicking every single letter then using Outline Selection.
